Of our markets, Moldova is the closest to home. A truck takes two to three days to Western Europe, free trade with the EU applies and the country has been a candidate member since 2022. That makes it attractive for runs you want to be able to adjust quickly without waiting for a sea container.
In the free economic zones around Balti and Ungheni, factories have been making wire harnesses and car parts for European manufacturers for years, with quality systems built around that. Alongside it there is contract garment work, furniture, light electrical engineering and a broad food and wine sector.
What to watch: the country is small and a large part of the working population is employed in the EU. Capacity and staffing are therefore the first questions here, not price. Transnistria falls outside what we offer, and the energy supply is sensitive to the region. We check in advance whether a workshop can carry your run structurally.
